Barry Braun, Senior Pastor
“Leadership begins and ends with God’s leading.”
Barry has been ordained in the Christian Missionary Alliance since 1986. He has served churches in Minnesota and here in Oregon, as well as beginning his ministry with Youth for Christ in 1978. He has been married to his bride, Wendy, for 30 years and they have four children. As the Senior Pastor of the church he uses his gifts of teaching, shepherding and leadership to express the vision of our church to reap a harvest for God. He has said “The greatest thing about serving the Lord at New Harvest is the continued anticipation that God is going to do something new and exciting in our midst.”

Steve Entz, Associate Pastor
A good day: Starbucks, a good project to tackle followed by more Starbucks.
Steve grew up as a missionary’s kid in Brazil. He is married to Carol and father of 3, grandparent to one. He was a cabinet maker for 10 years and for the past 19 years has served as Pastor of Prayer, Adult Ministries, Senior pastor and currently an Associate Pastor. What I am drawn to these days is encouraging Christians in their resolve to serve and honor the Lord with their lives.

Meredith Mooney, Director of Children’s Ministry
“Coffee? Did you say coffee? Let’s go…”
Meredith has been working with the children of New Harvest for over 5 years and finds it to be a very rewarding ministry. Seeing children growing to love the Lord more and more is her heart’s desire. She serves, expecting God to do the unexpected in the hearts of this next generation and longs for a renewed love for the Church to be modeled in and through families. Meredith attends New Harvest with her husband of nearly 20 years, Randy, and their two beautiful girls McKenzi and Madison.

Shane Lutton, Director of Worship
“I played my first guitar in 1975 and that was it for me… I’ve been an addict ever since.”
I was born in 1970. I stepped into my first church in 1979. It was a little weird at first but we hung in there. 1983 was a big year… I turned into a teenager and I gave my life to Christ. Good timing, right!? High School graduation happened in 1988 and I went right to work in a recording studio doing, well, just about everything I could get my hands on. In 1993 I figured (God nudged me a bit too)… I love music. I love my Savior. The combination of those two passions should give me plenty to do!
In 1994 I helped start Gateway Fellowship and served there as the Worship/Associate pastor. In 1995 I married Crystal. Best decision ever. Still married. Doin’ fine. Thank you very much! In 2002 our daughter, Kyera Blue, was born. She’s a cool kid… I kinda dig her. I came to serve at New Harvest in 2008 as the Director of Worship. So… 2011? Yep… still working at being the best I can be in ALL of these areas and everything in between. Jesus, thankfully, is very patient with me… “For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace”. John 1:16

Lynda McCarthy, Hallman Liason
I love my cats, Gracie and Lucy, my husband and Jesus…not necessarily in this order.
I’ve been involved in drama and the creative arts for 30 years, teaching, directing and writing inspired by the original creator of us all. When I think of Jesus, I think of all the times he used stories to illustrate the lessons of life. I can imagine He used every fiber of His being to engage the people to open their hearts and minds. Using drama alongside the message whether it’s a skit, reading, music or PowerPoint, our goal is to assist the pastor and align with the message so the congregation has every opportunity to experience the Word of God fully.

Connie Hawes, Office Manager
“Let’s have some tea and visit awhile.”
I started out life on the move, going to ten schools, in 28 houses, in 19 cities, in 6 states, until she landed in Salem 26 years ago. I worked for the State of Oregon for 15 years. In 1998 I felt that I should be working in ministry, although I couldn’t imagine how my analytical & computer skills would help any ministry (nor how I could afford to quit my state job). Finally in 2000, I shared my heart with my staff, who immediately challenged me to trust God to take care of the details. The same day I applied for a job as Pastor Barry’s assistant. Before I got back to my office I had received a call for an interview. I have worked with Barry for the past eleven years, first as his assistant, then as the Office Manager of New Harvest.

Lorraine Kauffman, Director of Women’s Ministries
“I never met a scottie I didn’t like.”
Lorraine is a native Oregonian who grew up in the foothills of the Cascades in the small community of Scio and now resides in Keizer. She accepted Christ and was baptized as a young girl attending Scio Baptist Church. She moved to Salem at age 18 and attended business college which led to a fulltime career in the healthcare industry as an executive assistant for many years and also as a medical transcriptionist which she still continues part time. Over the years she has been active in ministry in several evangelical churches, most recently involved at New Harvest Church since its beginning in 2004. She has led New Harvest’s Women’s Ministry program since July of 2008. Other priorities include her role as wife to Elvon, mother, stepmother and grandmother.
Lorraine expresses gratitude for the healing grace of God in her life and His forgiveness through changing times and seasons. A key verse for her is Philippians 1:6…,”He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

John Doan, Director of Global Ministries
A rainy day, a fire in the fireplace, and a new Clive Cussler novel…priceless!
John was born into a family that seemed to always be taking in strays, whether it was cats, dogs or people. “I remember growing up as a kid with lots of animals around our place and mom and dad helping family, friends or neighbors. We often had people living with us whether they were related or not.”
John accepted Christ in High School and has walked with the Lord ever since.
He is married to Kathy (35+ years), dad to Josh, Mike & Jenny and PaPa to Morgan.
John has had a heart to get the gospel out to the farthest parts of the world for over 30 years.
