Connection

Did you know that “connection” is highly valued at New Harvest?! Why would that be? Because we believe it is what we all need most. What do I mean by “connection?” Obviously, I am pointing to relationships. One relationship soars above the rest. The wise man Solomon wrote these words: “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” (Proverbs 18:24) Of course, this might highlight the importance of a best friend, but it also might point to the One who loves at all times and can help in any situation. The Lord is a very reliable friend through spiritual connection so that we might enjoy closeness with him.

It seems to me that our wellness is directly related to the health of our relationships. But too often fear and our own hurts get in the way. Jesus knows this and invites us into a very satisfying relationship that will help and bring healing to those who receive it. He said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke (partnership) upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30) That has to be the most inviting invitation ever offered.

Connection begins with Christ. He has everything we need for spiritual, emotional and relational health. The beauty of knowing Christ more and more is the blessing of sharing his life with others. His purpose is to multiply the affect. Then we will have the courage to move forward toward one another. If you are feeling hopeless and alone, it is hard to move. But Jesus takes the first step towards you. He embraces you; he empowers you. Begin again with Jesus and the friendships of life will follow. You were created for connection!
