Missions at New Harvest
We have been in an exciting transition to focus our energies as a church body in four strategic ways. Previously we had many connections with minimal partnership, as well as a lack of knowledge about what is happening through these specific missions. Now our church body is becoming more informed and more involved with the opportunities available. We begin closer to home with youth evangelism and extend all the way to Nepal, with our sister church in Tansen.
Every teenager is unique, but they share common needs. They need someone to go through life with and to hear how much Jesus loves them. This is where Young Life comes in. Leaders walk into the lives of high school and middle school kids in Keizer. They earn the right to be heard and share with them the best story they will ever hear, our redemption through Jesus. This story is told by people they know and trust, and in a way they can understand. Loving kids and loving Jesus is what Young Life is all about.

Prison Fellowship is a non-profit organization that seeks the transformation of prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families through the power and truth of Jesus Christ. Larry & Bonnie Perin are staff representatives and members of our church who specifically oversee five states for the Angel Tree Ministry to thousands of children who have a parent that is incarcerated. We have recently become a bridge church as we are making connection with inmates who will reenter our community in the next year. We are making room for several ex-prisoners to find a spiritual family right here at New Harvest.
Our sister church in Nepal is referred to as Tansen Church. It is a community church that has an evangelical message to the Nepalese people. Pastor Bishnu Regmi is the head pastor. We had the joy of having the Regmi family with us for several months. They are now stationed in Phoenix as Pastor Bishnu is receiving more education and training for leadership to be the most effective pastor possible. Recently God has used the church to evangelize over 100 people. They have planted two churches and have a ministry to 18 disabled people. We are making plans to take a group of people from New Harvest to minister there for two weeks early next year (2014).
The specific name of the mission in Kenya is Amani, which means peace. We are supporting this mission organization to help orphans in Kenya to have a better life with basic holistic provisions which sustain and support their wellbeing. This ministry is meant to honor Christ and help these orphans understand and receive the Gospel message of Jesus Christ into their hearts. As of the beginning of this year, we are assisting in education, clothing and food provision for 50 children enrolled in the program. We are also anticipating a short-term mission trip to Kenya in the near future. Recently our church provided funds for chickens in the remote village where the orphanage is located.
