I am convinced that New Harvest is the most spiritually mature Church I have ever served. There is evidence of knowledge, love and service in many ways. Many in our Body have walked with God for decades rather than just years. I feel stronger in the presence of many witnesses. It is a privilege to serve as the Lead Pastor of this fellowship.
This brings me to the next step that will reflect the genuine reality of our maturity. It is the theme for 2018 — “pass it on!” I was reading Hebrews 5 and experiencing conviction of the Holy Spirit for myself as well as our church family. The clear message from the writer of Hebrews is maturity means giving away what God has taught you. Hebrews 5:12 reads, “In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food.”
The emphasis this year is to intentionally, graciously and continuously share the life of Christ relationally with others. When Jesus told his disciples to bear fruit this is what he meant. May God bless our efforts to lovingly influence others so that we might more clearly reflect Christ’s presence among us. “By this everyone will know you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:35)
