God the source of hope

So we can overflow with confident hope 

  1. “Wish”, a desire or craving without the assurance of achieving it. 

“Hope”, a confidence/certainty without the details of its outcome

  1. Isaiah 7:2 & 2 Chronicles 28:1-6

Ahaz, an evil king who suffered the loss of 120,000 soldiers to the northern kingdom

  1. Isaiah 7:7-8

God is determine to provide us hope

  1. Isaiah 7:9

Our assignment is learning how to stand firm in our hope

  1. Isaiah 7:12 &  2 Kings 16:7-8

Ahaz’s other plan, relying on the king of Assyria

  1. Isaiah 7:14 

God has a plan and the power to pull it off

  1. Isaiah 9:6-7

God’s plan and power are still unfolding.

  1. What are the 2-3 most important situations that you find yourself “hoping” will happen

  2. What do you think is God’s perspective on the those situations above?

  3. What is the difference between “hoping in who God is” and “hoping God will respond to the specific details of our request”?
