Paul Observed Them (Acts 17:16)
Jesus wept because they knew the truth and didn’t want it.
Paul was stirred because they wanted the truth but did not know it.
Paul Engaged with Them (Acts 17:17-18)
Paul Speaks to Them (Acts 17:22-34)
4 steps to Christian witness:
Start with positive affirmation (v. 22)
Use the familiar to introduce the unfamiliar (v. 23)
Clearly present God (v. 24-28)
Make it personal (v. 29-31)
Q: What is the chief end of man?
A: Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever.

  1. What about Paul’s time in Athens is most significant to you?
  2. Of God, community, or mission, which one lags in priority for you?
  3. Which aspect of the mission of bringing the Good News of Jesus into the places where God has places you is most daunting?
